SCUDEM 2018 Invitation

SCUDEM 2018 - Invitation

SIMIODE is offering, SCUDEM 2018, a student competition and faculty development program for modeling in differential equations: SCUDEM 2018 - Student Competition Using Differential Equation Modeling.  Registration is open from 1 February to 1 April 2018. Please see details at SCUDEM 2018 and form your teams now for registration. Teams will be assigned to nearby local host site of their choice on a first come, first served basis. So be ready to register on opening day, 1 February 2018, to be sure to get your spot.

SCUDEM 2018 will take place on Competition Saturday, 21 April 2018, at 99 campuses in the United States and beyond for three person student teams (high school and undergraduate) and a faculty coach. See all the locations here.

Student teams will access three modeling problems on Friday, 13 April 2018, select one problem to work on at their home institution, and prepare an Executive Summary and a 10 minute Presentation to be delivered at a local host site of their choice near their home campus on 21 April 2018.

See the wonderful video from SCUDEM 2017 in which students share their enthusiasm for their SCUDEM experiences at SIMIODE's home page - front and center. Bring that excitement to your students by registering for SCUDEM 2018 at SIMIODE when SCUDEM 2018 registration begins 1 February 2018.

On Competition Saturday, 21 April 2018, faculty coaches will benefit from faculty development activities on modeling while teams will address an additional issue for their model and complete their Presentation from their efforts during the week. SCUDEM 2018 will take place from 9:00 AM to 4:15 PM on Competition Saturday, 21 April 2018, and conclude with an awards ceremony. There is a $200 registration fee for faculty development program and student competition for each team assembled. Additional faculty may join the visiting group at no cost and multiple teams from one school may register.

At SCUDEM 2017 faculty enjoyed their time together and learned a great deal about modeling while students enjoyed a friendly competition with their Presentations and an individual fun MathBowl.  See complete details at SCUDEM 2017 including problems used, all student submissions, awards, commentary by problem author, and MathBowl questions.

Offer your faculty and students this growth opportunity in mathematical modeling with differential equations. Form teams now and be ready to register for SCUDEM 2018 when registration opens on 1 February 2018.
